Bryerswood Youth Camp Optimist Club Receives Round Two Investment Readiness Program Funding

Bryerswood Youth Camp Optimist Club is proud to participate in the #IRProgram thanks to new GoC funding @CommFdnsCanada @WECFoundation

Bryerswood Youth Camp Optimist Club (Bryerswood Optimist Club) has reached an agreement with Girl Guides of Canada – Guides du Canada (GGC) for the purchase GGC Camp Bryerswood located on Texas Road in Amherstburg. The property sale is projected to be completed in October 2021.

Bryerswood Optimist Club will provide outdoor experiences and programs to all youth in Windsor, Essex County and Chatham Kent at the new Bryerswood Youth Camp.  Youth in Windsor, Essex County and Chatham Kent will have the opportunity to learn outdoor recreation, leadership, environmental stewardship and life skills on a year-round basis.

In order to purchase the Bryerswood camp property, Bryerswood Optimist Club must raise $500,000 and currently has collected over $113,000. The Bryerswood Optimist Club is raising the balance of funds to complete the purchase. Donations and pledges can be made at BryerswoodYouthCamp.com, or by contacting the Funding Committee directly (info@bryerswood.com). Tax receipts are available for all donations.

Thanks to the support of the Government of Canada, the Investment Readiness Program funding of $28,900 will allow Bryerswood Optimist Club to purchase software for a registration and reservations system for facility rentals and youth programs which will be offered at the Bryerswood Youth Camp.

This initiative is part of the Investment Readiness Program, funded by the Government of Canada and is made possible through a grant from the WindsorEssex Community Foundation.

Bryerswood Optimist Club is incredibly grateful to be receiving this funding and is excited to begin offering this customer friendly registration service so that the youth of our community will be able to enjoy outstanding outdoor experiences and programs.
