Bryerswood Youth Camp Optimist Club is proud to participate in the #IRProgram thanks to new GoC funding @CommFdnsCanada @WECFoundation

Bryerswood Youth Camp Optimist Club (Bryerswood Optimist Club) has reached an agreement in principle with Girl Guides of Canada – Guides du Canada (GGC) for the purchase GGC Camp Bryerswood located on Texas Road in Amherstburg. The property transfer is projected to be completed as early as April 2021.

Bryerswood Optimist Club will provide outdoor experiences and programs to all youth in Windsor Essex at Camp Bryerswood.  Youth in Windsor and Essex County will have the opportunity to learn outdoor recreation, leadership, environmental stewardship and life skills on a year- round basis.

In order to purchase Camp Bryerswood, Bryerswood Optimist Club must raise $450,000 and currently has over $130,000 donated or pledged. The Bryerswood Optimist Club is raising the balance of funds to complete the purchase. Donations and pledges can be made at bryerswoodyouthcamp.com or by contacting the Funding Committee directly (info@bryerswood.com). Tax receipts are available for all donations.

Thanks to the support of the Government of Canada, the Investment Readiness Program funding of $25,000 will allow Bryerswood Optimist Club to create Marketing and Branding materials to be used to promote the activities and programs offered to youth at Camp Bryerswood. A portion of the IRP funding will go to the creation of a master development plan for the camp property which will allow the club to coherently tackle the development and upgrading of facilities to ensure full accessibility.

This initiative is part of the Investment Readiness Program, funded by the Government of Canada and is made possible through a grant from the WindsorEssex Community Foundation.

Bryerswood Optimist Club is incredibly grateful to be receiving this funding and is excited to begin these two activities that will help provide outstanding outdoor experiences and programs to the youth of our community.
